fyffe High School Cheerleading
The Fyffe High School cheerleaders won the 2012 Class 2A championship during the AHSAA state competition November 17 at Wallace State Community College in Hanceville. It was the first state cheerleading title in the school’s history. They kept the tradition rolling in 2013 and 2014. They start preparations for their season in the summer with workouts and begin learning their routine. The girls are at the gym 3-4 days a week working on their skills such as stunting, tumbling, jumps, and motions. Coach Connie Cochran pushes them to be the best they can be and helps them strive for success. The Cheerleaders have also worked hard fundraising the past 2 years in order to build a facility more convenient to practice in.
Aside from the competitive world the cheerleaders also focus on supporting the Red Devil football team every Friday night. In the midst of competition season they also do a lot of behind the scenes work for the boys such as making cards, goodie bags, dress up days, and decorating the field house. The girls shared the experience of a state championship with the football team this past year in 2014 as the Red Devils took on Elba December 5 at Jordan-Hare stadium.
